A recent business trip to Boston helped me unearth this little gem which has quickly become one of my go-to’s for a friday night and a permanent addition to my wine collection.

Don’t be fooled by the name, there petite petit bunches way over it’s weight with an abundance of fruit flavours and fine-grained tannins that create a smooth, rich and balanced blend that is sure to please.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Dark & inky

Nose:  Candied Raspberry & light oak

On the palate: Full bodied, with a smooth texture and rich layers of tart black cherry, cranberry, vanilla and a hint of blueberry and cocoa, with a finish that is slightly dry

Varietal Composition: Blend 85% Petite Sirah, 15% Petit Verdot

By: Michael David Vineyards

Style: Full-bodied and smooth

Vintage: 2016

Origin: California, USA

Value Rating:   5 / 5

Where to buy it: LCBO

Price: $28.95

Score: 92 (Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast, Nov 1. 2017)

Drink: Now through 2022.

Should you try? Definitely. Although this bottle is a little spendy, it pairs well with a range of food dishes and is smooth enough to drink by itself.
